Celia Furt, Dredging (DOCO 2023)

Living in Hastings, I documented a big dredging operation that would clean up the seabeds from the accumulated sediments to make the channel and the bay more suitable for any maritime activity. For almost a year, R and his work mates scraped the bottom of the bay relentlessly day in day out, sometimes in poor weather conditions. The pipes covered the whole bay, and the entire marina. At times, I witnessed some incidents such as an oil spill. Water spill from the back of a boat is absolutely normal but a fuel spill in the water isn't. In fact oil spills can be deadly for the fauna and flora if not dealt with. Has the seagull dancing on the pipe been soiled by the spill?
