Joanne Costanzo, Dunes of Namibia (LANDSCAPE 2025)

Namibia is home to some of the world’s largest sand dunes. Many of these dunes can be found surrounding a large salt pan known as Sossusvlei. Many tourists to Namibia travel to Sossusvlei just to take up the challenge of climbing these massive dunes. The dunes of vibrant coloured ochre sand are in sharp contrast to the crystal blue skies, especially at sunrise and sunset. Deadvlei is another well known salt pan in Namibia. This salt pan is marked by skeletons of trees which have remained standing for over 600 years. Black and scorched by intense heat, the trees have not decomposed due to the extreme high temperatures.
