Mal Keeble, Early bird catches the reflection (Single Shot 2020)

This images was taken in Japanese Garden at The Butchart Gardens, Victoria, Canada, in October 2019. This is image I had planned to capture in the gardens, but being a first time visitor I wasn't sure where the shot was. It wasn't until later in the day I realised I had captured this path through the pond in exactly the place where I wanted to be. This image is the result of getting out of my comfort zone and chasing the shot. The day started early, catching the public bus from downtown Victoria north towards the famous gardens. After an hour on the bus with the morning commuters headed to work, we got off the bus and walked 2km to the gardens. We were the first to arrive and had to wait 30 minutes in the freezing cold before the gates opened to the public. Being first to the Japanese Garden meant I could take my time before the bus loads of tourists arrived.
