Theresa Lee, Ever Present (ART 2023)
The inspiration behind these photographs arose from a desire to artistically connect my mother Diana’s enduring love for her late mother, sister & aunts, late husband and late youngest daughter respectively with the nature growing in the wetlands Reserve located beside her home, through three spiritual elements, water, air and earth. Each image integrates a rephotographed print from the past. I chose monochrome to reflect the passage of time. Layering in fairy lights from my mother’s garden kindle her love for the souls evoked. The evergreen Australian Eucalyptus metaphorically bestow their ‘ever presence’. The flowers adorning each subject remain in colour, signifying a constant renewal of love for our late loved ones on their anniversaries especially.
