Julia Howe, Evolving Anger (PORTRAIT 2022)

This series is one of 3 from my collection of triptychs exploring the idea of unseen emotions. The works investigate the notion that whilst someone may appear happy and composed, underneath that shell, they may in fact be concealing darker emotions and struggles. In my work I wanted to uncover that, and provide a visual representation for the concept. This triptych revolves around the emotion of anger. Revealing the power of rage physically as the subject tears at her pillow. Her rage drastically contrasts the first images look of composure, and encourages viewers to look deeper into what people may be feeling as things are not always what they may seem.
