Russell Curr, Forests (LANDSCAPE 2022)

I have always found the works of some of the early colonial painters inspiring; people like John Glover, Von Guerard and Heysen. The Covid lockdowns restricted my travels and I found myself spending more time in the local forests close to home. This resulted in photographic work that I like to think was inspired by these early European visitors to our forests. But work that also acknowledges that reality of human occupation of these same forests that extends back into the Dreamtime.
