Marc Stapelberg, Frozen (Documentary/Photojournalism)
Spending a few days with the family I photographed the daily life of a person trapped in their body without any ability to move a single limb. His family care for him 24/7 with the help of volunteers and nurses. Known as 'locked-in syndrome' the person was involved in a car accident which left unable to communicate in any way with the outside world. He has to do a variety of stretches everyday with the help of volunteers to ensure his muscles don't waste away.
