Daniel Purvis, Good Dogs (Portrait (2019))
Each dog is photographed in the form of a classic portrait designed to capture the dramatic demeanour of each canine companion. This is the desire to move beyond traditional domestic "pet photography" and towards a more formalised concept of "pet portraiture", capturing the mood and emotion of a wholly realised canine individual. Each portrait has been deliberately framed incorporating an element of the environment in which they feel most comfortable, whether at a park, their city studio, or the arms of their owner. All images shot, developed, scanned and printed by Daniel Purvis.
