Carrie Jones, Holding onto home (Documentary 2020)
We share a deep connection to our home. When looked after, it provides us with a safe environment in which to grow and thrive, but as time passes the limitations of our aging bodies can make it challenging to maintain and stay in our homes and so often we are faced with the threat of relocation. But there are those that refuse to leave, those that stay strong, those that know innately that the connection they have to their home may well be their last lifeline. More than simply a place to rest their weary heads, their home is their sanctuary, their keeper of stories and secrets. They see themselves in their homes, their history, their families. They are indistinguishable from their homes. So just as the toll of a life well lived leaves its mark on the human body, it is also evident in the wear and tear seen around an aging home.
