Belinda Kranz, In My Head (ART 2023)
Creativity and Bipolar Disorder – Touched by fire or burning with questions? Creating art can be therapy. It is a common belief that there are close links between bipolar disorder and the creative voice. Many famous artists have bipolar. I was diagnosed in later life and it all made sense to me. My art and my bipolar are intertwined. When my brain is buzzing, I am filled with creative energy and I see the world from different angles. I abhor the word ‘normal’ and have had the courage to come out as someone with bipolar, thereby encouraging and empowering others. My art is my tool for this as well as my creative outlet. This series is a reflection of what I feel, often with the mind spinning around like a circle, over and over.
