Reema Hamdan, It's a Woman's World. (Travel (2019))

The northern most point of Vietnam, Ha Giang, bordering China, is home to many different ethnic tribes, who speak neither Vietnamese or Mandarin. The communities live off the land, providing many of the goods the countries then export. The interesting aspect of these communities is that it is the women and children whom are the workers. Driving through the beautiful landscape and speaking to the locals, you see the women hanging off the edge of the cliff, ploughing the fields, children with picked vegetables draped across their backs, ladies carrying tools heavier than themselves. It was rare to see any grown males, either working the land, or on the streets.
