Natalie Arber, Lawai'a (PORTRAIT 2024)
Captured in Kauai, Lawai’a means “fisherman” and shows a local Hawaiian living off of his land catching food for his Ohana. Wearing Pāpale Niu for sun protection - a traditional hand-weaved hat made from coconut leaves, this series of images represents true sustainability from his hat and food sources stemming from deep cultural underpinnings of being connected to the land and nature.
