Lynette Letic, Let's Get Together (Documentary/Photojournalism)

Let’s Get Together is the result of multiple visits made to regional community dances, country fairs and events that regularly take place in a number of small towns located west of Brisbane. The pictures present the diverse individual and communal expressions that manifest in spaces such as community halls and fairgrounds. While I saw these events as part of the communities' attempts to uphold rituals, traditions and the narratives of their towns, I also considered the role of representation throughout the construction of the series and how photography allows for these disparate events and people to be construed as one community or collective identity.
