Somdatta Ganguly, Lichen-ed (LANDSCAPE 2023)
Fiery! That’s what came to mind, when we saw these lichen covered boulders! Be it at the Squeaky Beach during midday or the Bicheno Blowholes in the afternoon or in the evening, they were always dazzling! The huge boulders covered in the orange lichen at Squeaky Beach, Wilsons Prom National Park, Victoria was burning red (literally!) under the midday sun. Although they gave an impression of a furnace, that didn’t deter us from entering the alleys hidden within those boulders. A flaming hide and seek ground, may I say? Compared to that, the relatively smaller lichen covered boulders at the Bicheno blowholes, Tasmania were not as bright in the afternoon sun, but they still had fire in them - emanating the hopes of a blazing tomorrow!
