Ghislain Yung, Looking up (ANIMAL 2024)
This portfolio shows 3 different species of wild monkeys found in Borneo (Danum valley and Bako NP) that I shot during last summer. (Orangutan, Red leaf-monkey, Proboscis). When I look at their faces I'm often stupefied to notice how human their expressions look like. Being all endengered species, due to the loss of their natural habitat for the deforestation and palm industry, I choosed these pictures where their are looking up because they seem to pray or hope in a blissful ray of light for their own fate. This is of course an anthropomorphic interpretation of some usual postures, but so appropriated concerning their actual critical situation. The title refer also to a recent famous movie concerning the denial of the humanity in front of the critical mass extinction that's happening this century.
