Michelle Vollemaere, Lovebird Street (ANIMAL 2024)

Masked lovebirds are very social birds who choose preferred companions to spend their time with, but gather in flocks to feed. The African-themed decoration of their clustered houses in Auckland Zoo references the Tanzanian origins of masked lovebirds and complements the busy, bright colours of these birds. My images capture a single, a pair and a small part of the flock who were home at the time I visited.
