Talia Carroll, Macro Mushrooms (Student)
This body of work seeks to explore different types of mushrooms as a textural study of their surfaces. This aim is enhanced by the use of a macro lens. The benefit of using a macro lens is being able to get so close to the subject that we are hardly able to recognise them, or we start to associate them with other objects and entities. I have worked with such elements as line, removal of scale, contrast and shallow depth of field to create an almost visceral experience for the viewer.
