In the weeks leading up to and during our sitting together, Maia openly shared stories of her onerous immigration to Australia from war-torn Iraq. Amongst our many conversations, I observed her incredible resilience and strength, witnessed her sincere vulnerability, and learned of her devastating isolation and loss.
