Lesley Bretherton, Mallee Lake Pastels (LANDSCAPE 2025)

The Mallee salt lakes with their delicate, pastel hues create,an otherworldly landscape. Viewed from above through drone photography, these vast, flat expanses transform into ethereal tapestries, where nature paints with soft pinks, oranges, blues, and whites. The subtle shifts in colour across the lake surface are a testament to the fragile yet powerful forces shaping the land. The abstraction created by height allows the lakes to appear both familiar and alien, inviting viewers to reimagine their connection to the natural artistry present in these unique environments.
