Fiona Birt, Melancholia (OPEN 2022)

‘Melancholia’ explores the bittersweet emotions of loss and grief, and the nostalgic memories that form an integral part of the human experience. Inspired by remarkable characters encountered on the street, I felt compelled to imagine their 'stories' and depict these visually by constructing dark and evocative textural composites.
