Kevin Norris, Monks of Luang Prabang (Doco/Photojournalism (2019))

Becoming a Monk in Laos does not necessitate a lifelong commitment to their religious calling. Accruing merit as a monk may take as little as three months or less. Joining the monastic order often appeals to rural youths as it is an opportunity to have a roof over their heads, meals each day and an education. Normally each day starts at around 3.40am with prayer, alms collection, followed by a mix of prayers, classes and chores around the temple, a life that many would not find too appealing.
