Rachel Dulson, Mother, her final days (Doco/Photojournalism (2019))
When my mum passed away I was lucky and privileged to spend the last four weeks with her. She’d had a busy and productive life raising four children. We all loved and cared for her the best we could but after my father died in 2012 she became lonely and very frail. She was fiercely independent and stayed living in the flat she shared with him right up until the end. During the last three weeks before she took to her bed we spent the time visiting the places she loved the most and eating out at lunchtime, enjoying the time reminiscing as elderly people can. I loved her deeply and miss her greatly.
