Jordan Robins, Motions of The Ocean (Landscape (2019))
A collection of some of my favourite ocean photos, created with my camera in an underwater housing. Four of the photos are called 'over unders'. An over under is a style of underwater photography where you can see above and below the water, captured in a single exposure. Below the water is illuminated with strobes (underwater flashes) which helps to balance the exposure with the sky. Shooting on sunrise and sunset I like to capture vivid atmospheric skies paired with the textures and colours of the substrates below the waters surface. In one of the other two photos I have captured a scene where the camera and housing is fully submerged below the waters surface. It shows rays of sunlight dancing upon the seafloor and then being reflected back up onto the oceans surface, creating unique patterns and formations. In the other photo I have used a slow shutter speed to create and abstract painting like scene of vivid clouds in the sky reflected upon the waters surface on sunset.
