Eliza Mullins, Myanmar (DOCO 2021)
I visited Myanmar in 2018 and was stunned by its gorgeous, welcoming people. Heartbroken by the conflict happening in the country right now, I contacted my tour guide, Min, to send my love and strength to him and his family. Here's what he said. "We have a terrible problem now. We are fighting against cruel dictators. We have no equal rights under their control. They tortured people physically and mentally. After 10 years of democratic transition, they are trying to suppress the people of Myanmar again. This is a serious conflict between the military with guns and the people with only hands. This will be the endless struggle of all generations to come. We want justice. We love peace. We will leave messages for the generation to come to continue fighting against dictators. And we will also leave messages for our next generation to leave the same messages. This struggle will never be undone until dictators are utterly devastated. Please support the Myanmar people. This is not the problem of a political party or of a certain organisation. This is the struggle for the freedom of Myanmar people."
