Belinda Kranz, Mysterious Morning Fog (Landscape (2019))

Fog transforms a scene into one of mystery and needs to be captured within a very short time frame otherwise it can quickly vanish. I have taken a series during the winter season around where I live; of the play of the fog and early sunlight on the landscape. The beauty of it makes up for the freezing conditions one experiences when capturing these scenes! I worked to capture the magic that I saw in these scenes and to share that with viewers of my photos. “If you obey all the rules, you miss all the fun.” …. This saying is so apt as I have ‘broken’ the composition rules in some of my photos but that adds to the story I am showing the viewer. Foggy landscapes draw me in with their mysterious lighting at sunrise and the moody, emotional atmosphere created by low lying fog. A long awaited blood moon turned into a foggy failure as very heavy fog rolled in but I turned it into a different photo instead and celebrated the dark, moody and heavy fog.
