CC Herkes, Mythical Creatures (Animal 2020)
CC Herkes work with drone photography to create abstract digital artworks. The three mythical creatures were all 'captured' in the South Australian outback. Some have strong political statements about the status of climate change. Black Sheep was photographed in the basin of the Murray River near Swan Reach and provokes thought about the meaning of the 'black sheep' idiom in light of the water allocations along with this river system. It also explores the naivety of the image, a sheep; the iconic farming animal of the Murray-Darling Basin. Desert Unicorn is a captured fleeting moment of the elusive creature as she gallops across the outback landscapes of South Australia. Mystical, ephemeral and beautiful. Outback Horse 1 emerged from the outer landscapes of Coober Pedy. A coquettish stare.
