Mieke Boynton, Nalina Nalina I (Landscape (ATEP 2017))

Nalina Nalina is a shallow, sandy intertidal zone on the edge of Roebuck Bay near Broome, Western Australia, and its true beauty is only revealed a few times per year, when the tide is extremely low. Usually, this entire area is completely underwater. Some of the most extreme tidal movements in the world occur in this part of Australia, and occasionally, the difference between low tide and high tide is more than ten metres. Once the tide turns, the water rises and the wet sand shifts and transforms and is quickly buried beneath the weighty edge of the Indian Ocean.
