Bidibidi Refugee Settlement is located in Northern Uganda and home to 287,000 South Sudan refugees. 40% of primary aged children do not attend school as they assist with chores such as gathering water. Severe infrastructure and resource shortages result in 1:226 teacher to student ratios. Girls are particularly at risk of a lack of education because of early marriages. I attended a women's meeting where the focus was on keeping girls in school.
