Kathy Servian, Objectified (ART 2021)
The objectification of women's bodies has taken many forms over the centuries. Each image in the series Objectified explores the objectification of women and their bodies from a different perspective. Possession comments on the history of objectification. Until relatively recently the marriage laws in many countries named a wife as the property of her husband. Statuary explores the exploitation of the female form in art by referring to the Greek myth of Pygmalion, and Vixen comments on the perception of the perfect female form in Western society and how women who do not meet this ideal are made to feel worthless.
