Linlin Zhao, Past and Present (SINGLE SHOT 2025)

Sultan Han is a large and significant 13th-century Seljuk caravanserai in the town of Sultanhani, Aksaray Province, Turkey. Located strategically along the Silk Road, this largest medieval caravanserai in Turkey served not only as secure stops for caravans carrying goods between Europe and Asia but also as vibrant exchange points for diverse cultural practices. Hundreds of years have passed, the only thing left in this once prosperous and bustling place is the silence. On the day I went there, a little girl was playing in the empty courtyard. Her giggles echoed between those ancient stone walls. The past and the present intertwined here harmoniously , a mysterious and touching moment.
