Margot Sharman, Perplexus (Documentary/Photojournalism)

The exploration of setting a film noir, almost cinematic experience using analogue, medium format film and digital techniques to make black and white photographs, draws the sequential interest of a narrative within the thematic and architectural approach to the work. The sense of the instability of art in its meaning in this series, allows the viewer to ignore the artist’s voice and instils either an avoidance of the work or a drawing in and a creation of a personal voice from the reading of it. The images emphasise the way I work within my professional and student photographic practice. I am always looking for the moment that has just gone before … whilst waiting for the instant that will come after.
