SCOTT KRISTIAN KELLEHER, PK. SEANCHAI MUAY THAI GYM - THE ART OF EIGHT LIMBS (DOCO 2025)

Whilst in Thailand last year I had the honour and opportunity to visit and document Seanchai's Bangkok gym. Muay Thai is Thailand's national sport and Saenchai is a world known legend in 'the art of eight limbs'. Muay Thai was originally developed in ancient times as a martial art for soldiers, should they come off their horse and find themselves unarmed. But in modern times it has become an ever increasingly popular sport as well as a means to keeping fit. I'm a practitioner of the sport and also a fan, so was very excited to be invited into a legendary gym to capture the essence of what the craft is about. This is a fight gym and local and foreign fighters alike get put through the paces and train to exhaustion. The training is tough but there is nothing but love, compassion, and lots of sweat in such a place. Ego is left at the door and one becomes family. The final photo is of a local young fighter at Rajadamnern Stadium, the biggest Muay Thai stadium in the world, preparing to do battle in a world tournament.
