Georgia Farlow, Portrait of a Tinker (BLACK & WHITE 2022)
These images capture the genuine portrait a shed paints of its inhabitant - my great-uncle Peter. The shed has become part of his identity over his 70 years living in Queensland. Though he has always lived alone, the shed is still his sanctuary. It provides a place for creativity, inventiveness and resourcefulness. Presenting the images in black and white isolates objects and textures more effectively, with equal emphasis on both the subject and his environment. The visual impact of how unpretentious Peter is about himself and his shed is what I find interesting, and adds rawness and honesty to the images.
