Meet the characters and their personalities. I intentionally went to great lengths to omit any background detail in these portraits - my intent was to focus in on the details of the individual. Included is a Rockhopper penguin - the background blue is the distant southern ocean above which the colony is established. A Weddell Seal catches snow on her whiskers - the background is a dark shadow created by an icy ledge overhang on the shores of Petermann Island. Finally, a Fur Seal surveys her territory on Deception Island - the background is created by fresh oversight snow.
