Marion Phillips, Powerful but Peaceful (Documentary/Photojournalism (ATEP 2017))

I happened upon a March by the Who is Hussain organisation protesting the violence of ISIS - it was a very peaceful but powerful protest. Singing and some chanting, with many slogans on signs, their religious symbols and icons, flags - the message was very clear. There are many branches of the Islamic faith but unfortunately one act of terrorism or defiance by a militant branch taints the rest with the same brush. Who is Hussain organisation worldwide are about assistance in the community, and living peacefully in their adopted or native homeland through integration. The Imams led the way and the women with their female children were at the rear - the lady to whom I spoke to ask permission to take the women's photos is in bare feet, another symbol of them honouring Imam Hussain and his peaceful ways.
