Warren Lee, Raining Man (DOCO 2024)

In the middle of the Black Rock Desert in Nevada, 80,000 people gathered for a week long experiment in temporary community at Burning Man 2023-"Animalia". While the community was prepared for ridiculous heat in the desert, the days of rain, which shut the site down completely, and the cold, were an unprecedented surprise. While media outside the event spoke of a crisis and the US Federal Emergency Management Agency potentially getting involved, the community rallied, improvised rain gear and mud shoes, toasted marshmallows on fire pits, made mud art, looked after people and waited for it all to blow over. Which it did. Why anyone even had a fire pit and marshmallows in the first place remains a mystery.
