John Luff, Remembering Adam Cullen (ART 2025)

I recently photographed this metal dog, a public artwork on the streets of Brisbane entitled the Guardian by Cezary Stulgis. The dog reminds me of Adam Cullen's Dog series of works painted towards the end of his brief, but eventful life. I shared a house in Annandale with Adam in 1987-8 when he was still a student. "Remembering Adam Cullen" comprises three images: 1) "Restless Soul, Adam Cullen" set on the docks of the Brisbane River; 2) "Merry Xmas, Adam Cullen" with Brisbane City Hall and Christmas tree; 3) "Journey to the Afterlife, Adam Cullen" featuring images of butterflies symbolising rebirth (John Luff/JL Images).
