Daniel Adams, Sam with Transient Looks (PORTRAIT 2024)

Sam in the afternoon light at the Palace Hotel (1877) on George street. A pocket of historic Sydney in the ever changing Haymarket. The open window looks onto Capital Square, where we watch the new trams trundle towards us and then turn at the last moment down George Street. The next time I see Sam he has shaved his head, he has a habit of transitioning to new a look when he feels a stagnation. While the changing face of Sydney is utilitarian, Sam's changes in style are more whimsical and to me, as comforting as the change of a season. Shot on Canon AE-1 Program. 35mm film.
