Corey Donaldson, Saviour (Single Shot 2020)
Gladys poses for a portrait after praying for her adopted son, Brian. Gladys raised Brian after he was abandoned in a field by his biological mother shortly after his birth. Taking on a child wasn't easy, considering she was a widow and facing poverty - a familiar situation for most living in rural Kenya. Although he was in the compassionate and nurturing hands of Gladys, Brian's physical condition quickly declined, and for many years medical facilities did not recognise the symptoms. Brian was eventually diagnosed with Tetralogy of Fallot - a life-threatening disease requiring relatively expensive surgery. It took the support of a generous community and the child development organisation, Compassion, to raise the funds required to admit Brian for surgery. Gladys humbly gives all credit of Brian's recovery to God and those around her, but the people in her community see her as a saviour nonetheless.
