Nilmini De Silva, Snail Trails (SINGLE SHOT 2021)
It was almost Christmas but a gloomy pall hung over Sydney. The combination of a very wet summer thanks to La Nina and the pandemic blues was getting us down. We decided to head up to the Central Coast, despite it being a rainy day and not ideal shooting conditions. I was wandering around the rock pools when I spotted these incredible patterns that the snails had made in the sand with their meanderings. Trying to do an aerial shot without getting my shadow in the photograph was a challenge but I am happy with the result. The contrasting colours of blue and yellow and the trails of the snails filled me with joy and succeeded in blowing the cobwebs away.
