Angelique Kelly, Solo (PORTRAIT 2024)
The self is both the observer and the participant in our mental landscape— a storyteller narrating the inner dialogue and shaping the narrative of our personal identity. We present our best imagined selves in public, while our inner selves processes all of our memories, fears and hopes. I chose these images to tell the story of the solo performances we each undertake every day, both literally and figuratively, and the inner dialogue that might arise from them. Do they like me? Will I make a mistake? Is it ok if I do? Should I fit in with the crowd, or be someone else entirely? We're all ultimately on that stage, or at that party, alone.
