Alice Mariette, Spiderman (PORTRAIT 2022)

All three of my children are currently obsessed with dressing up as Spiderman, despite never having watched or read anything to do with the character. On this occasion we were cooking pizza in a makeshift outdoor oven and the children were playing happily in their own world. My eldest son was standing on the deck, with the dark blue of the dusk sky behind him and I asked if I could photograph him, as I loved how the blue sky matched the outfit and how wonderful he looked, deep in his own imagination. I continued to photograph him as he played "in character", wanting to capture the innocence of his imaginary world, one which I know he is on the cusp of leaving.
