Thusith Muhandiram, Stunned (SINGLE SHOT 2025)

This image was captured near Lake Matheson, in the glacier region of New Zealand’s South Island. I had just finished a sunrise shoot at the lake and was heading back when I came across this breathtaking scene—the morning sun gently illuminating the fog. I stood there, momentarily stunned by the beauty unfolding before me. I quickly took a few shots, but kept thinking about how I could truly do justice to the scene through my lens. What caught my eye most was a small cluster of trees standing together, almost as if they too were transfixed by the spectacle. I composed my frame to include them, adding a sense of quiet wonder to the image. In the distance, you can see the towering peaks of Mount Cook and Mount Tasman, the highest mountains in New Zealand, adding to the majesty of the moment.
