Siobhan Mews, Tag / Embrace / Red Dog (Animal 2020)

I am a junior doctor in Perth, WA with a background in Zoology and a keen interest in conservation. The first of my images is of a young cub pouncing on a very tolerant lioness. The pride had just awoken with the sunrise, and were beginning to head out on the hunt. This cub would run ahead and ‘stalk’ the rest of the pride, pouncing on them as they passed. This was taken during during my medical elective in a small rural hospital South Africa, but the morning I spent with this pride has to be one of the best. The next two images were taken in Madhya Pradesh in India across two national parks. A mother and infant langur share an embrace in Bandhavgarh national park, and an Indian Wild Dog pauses as he crosses the path in the evening mist in Kanha National Park. I have a great passion for wildlife and conservation, and in my photography I aim to evoke in others that same passion.
