Mark Brierley, Tame the Rugged Land (Landscape)
The Australian natural landscape is one of massive isolation filled with vast open flats, ranges and bodies of water. Personally, landscape photography in Australia is way of escaping from the burdens of society; the landscapes in Australia are untouched by man and have retained a primal beauty that I have fallen in love with and hope to capture in my images. The textures, light, shade and colour that can be found in Australian landscapes are what I aim to, on a technical level, capture so that the photographs can represent more than just an aesthetically beautiful photo of a landscape. The photographs are more than that, they are meticulously designed and worked on so that they represent the expansiveness that so characterizes the land as Australian.
