Annette Ruzicka, the feral cat hunter (Documentary/Photojournalism)

One feral cat can eat up to 30 small native animals in one night. Since their introduction it’s been a losing battle for conservationists. Some people however don’t give up. This man spends solitary nights stalking and hunting feral cats in the name of saving Australia’s threatened species. On the lucky nights, made easier by his training in the army reserves, he has to endure not only killing a creature – he also has to perform gut analysis to report back to the scientists. It’s a feat only a small few could take on in the name of conservation.
