Natasha Trivedi, The Last Christmas (Documentary/Photojournalism)

A personal project documenting changing environment and times - the last Christmas at my grandmother’s quarter-acre property and the house my late grandfather built.. This property will be demolished in the near future to make way for the new world order. I documented my grandmother around as she went about her daily chores of peeling vegetables, throwing scrapes over the old barbed wire fence to the sheep in the backyard and gathering fresh vegetables from my late grandfather’s beloved and once thriving (now depleted) garden in preparation for the family Christmas dinner. Just over the fence, times they are a changin’. Bulldozers and heavy machinery bring about the end of an era. Construction is currently continuing on the six-lane highway under the recently built bridge and train station. Everything about this property feels familiar to me and holds many wonderful memories. Following my grandmother around the place at Christmas brought back glimpses of a golden childhood.
