Lex Rudd, The Painted Hills (LANDSCAPE 2023)
The Painted Hills in northern South Australia are located close to Anna Creek Station. In this region the flat red landscape of the desert changes to reveal ranges of terracotta, ochre and white. The valleys are creek beds which from the air appear as dark green to black patches. The colours of the ranges have been produced by erosion of top soils over time and then oxidation of the layers beneath the top soil. Our images were all captured using aerial photography with a Nikon Z7-2.
