John Stanton, The Shadow of the Divine (ARCHITECTURE 2025)

"The true work of art is but a shadow of the Divine" (Michelangelo). I have an abiding fascination with the architecture of sacred spaces, and how architects use forms and space as an expression of the relationship between the mortal and the immortal. I especially note the use of light, the symbolic artistic decorations, and the shapes of the constructed forms as elements designed to direct the viewer towards the eternal, ineffable, otherness of God.
