Joshua Thomas, The Soup Boys (Student (ATEP 2017))
In beginning of 2017 I was invited by Cycling media outlet "Soup Boys" to document their expedition of The Let Tour Down Under in Adelaide. Among the members of The Soup Boys is an array of personalities and skills that would set them on the path to greatness, both individually but most importantly collectively. I rarely do follow cycling or any other sports, but I constantly find myself fascinated with the behind the scenes of sports life. The stand-alone portraits or obscure takes on sports life, which is not featured in a usual athlete magazine is what I aim to create when making these pictures. I consider myself a photographer that documents the literal but presents it as the unusual, within sport photography I have always admired the pictures that represent the lead up to an fight more than the actual fight. Within these photographs I hope to present a new take on cycling associated photography and present new dialogs.
